I have over 16 years experience working with children and adults, couples and families in a wide range of related roles, within the helping professions.

I work therapeutically with issues of low self-esteem, anxiety, stress, loss, depression, sexuality, trauma, difficult life experiences, addictions, familial and life transitions, eating difficulties and relationship problems.

As a Humanistic therapist, I will offer you a safe therapeutic space, where you can feel accepted as you are. I will listen and work supportively alongside you, while you examine your thoughts and feelings about what is going on in your life, how it is affecting you and how you want your life to be.

I draw from Person-Centred, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Existential and Systemic models within my practice and sometimes incorporate the use of creative materials and objects within my therapeutic work, to help explore thoughts, feelings and relational dynamics.

Whilst I work as an integrative psychotherapist my initial training within the humanistic tradition undoubtedly influences me along with the experiences from my earlier background in psychological services. From this stance I take the view that everyone has their own unique and personal journey to make and am committed to providing a safe space in which you can explore those difficulties and dilemmas currently impacting upon you.

More recently my work includes the use of EMDR, which can be a very effective way of helping to promote your recovery from a variety of life’s difficulties, particularly those brought about through early psychological problems or trauma or later single adverse life events. EMDR can make a real difference where there has been an impact on your ability to cope with aspects of the present day.

I undertake both short and longer-term therapy with the aim of helping you make some sense out of where you are in your life, offering the opportunity to think and reflect differently on those events and memories from the past that may be impacting on both present day living and contributing to expectations of the future, inviting you to engage in the process of finding a new way to live. I work from consulting rooms at Queens Place in Central Brighton and on Church Road in Hove. For more info click here.

I trained in the Humanistic tradition and now work integratively, drawing on theory from Relational Transactional Analysis, Person-centred therapy and psychodynamic theory.  I am also a registered yoga teacher with an interest in the therapeutic benefits of meditation for psychological wellbeing. I work short term and long term, and offer low cost places to those less able to pay my standard rates.

Each one of us is a unique human being, with a unique way of understanding the world.

I will treat you as an individual, offering a supportive relationship in which we can work together towards a deeper understanding of how things are for you, paving the way for your own self development. Our therapeutic relationship will provide the foundation for positive change to occur.

Our therapists all have their own individual therapeutic style taking and integrative approach. All are fully qualified and are full members of the BACP, adhering to their ethical and professional guidelines. For full details go to the Our therapists page.
